On December 10th, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the list of approved major projects in 2022 of the National Social Science Fund of China. Professor Lin Bohai from the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University served as the chief expert, and applied for the project of “Research on Marxist Theory Basics of ‘Shared Values for All Humanity’” which was approved.
Faced with unprecedented changes in the world, times, and history, General Secretary Xi Jinping mentioned in the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China report: “Countries around the world uphold the shared values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom, promote mutual understanding and affinity among people of all countries, and respect the diversity of civilizations. Countries should transcend barriers between cultures through exchanges, resolve conflicts through mutual understanding, and reject superiority while promoting coexistence, jointly addressing various global challenges.” Professor Lin Bohai took the “Marxist theory basics of ‘shared values for all humanity’” as the research object in “Research on Marxist Theory Basics of ‘Shared Values for All Humanity’”. It not only clears the sources and deeply explores the Marxist practical theory foundation, historical materialism foundation, value theory foundation, and community theory foundation of the shared value for all mankind but also reveals the scientific and truthful nature of Marxism, completely demonstrating its ideological power; Simultaneously, this research focuses on theoretical innovation and creation and profoundly unveils the shared values for all humanity based on changes in the world, times, and history, persevering in maintaining the right orientation while pursuing innovation and developing the original contributions of Marxism under new era conditions.
The approval of this project symbolizes the further improvement of the ability to acquire national major projects of the University’s humanities and social sciences research group in a new era, and that the strengths of the research team and the quality of academic propositions receive further national attention and recognition. In the meantime, the approval will inject new motivation into the innovative development and the core competitiveness of philosophy and social sciences, especially the Marxist theory discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University.
It is reported that the major projects of the National Social Science Fund of China are currently at the highest level, with the largest amount of funds, and are authoritative and fiercest competitive research projects in this fund. Moreover, it’s a core indicator to measure the comprehensive strength and core competitiveness of philosophical and social science research in diverse universities. Currently, this fund has set 343 research topics for major projects and announced the list of responsible units involving 163 educational and research institutions.
In recent years, Southwest Jiaotong University has attached great importance to the team incubation, topic collection, and application of major projects of the National Social Science Fund of China. Additionally, the University has actively propelled the construction of scientific research teams, especially emphasizing the comprehensive trace and meticulous services for topic design, team building, bid submission, and expert consultation and argumentation during the early cultivation and application of a major project and taking all key links of project application into account. As of now, Southwest Jiaotong University has won a total of 6 major projects of the National Social Science Fund of China.
