On the afternoon of November 28, 2019, Professor Zhu Ling, an expert from the Ideological and Political Theoretical Course Inspection Team of Southwest Jiaotong University, convened a seminar on the teaching of the Outline of Chinese Modern History in Room 209 of Wanqingyuan, Jiuli Campus. Associate Professor Wang Peng presided over the seminar with attendees such as Professor He Yun'an and teachers of the Teaching and Research Section of Chinese Modern History.
Professor Zhu Ling, who is over 90 years old, made a speech for an hour and a half. He first gave his feedback on the recent lectures, affirming the teachers’ progress in teaching and pointing out their lack of emphasis on the introduction and the absence of summary in the courses. He then carefully and thoroughly addressed how to teach the Outline of Chinese Modern History as a course, how important it is to university students, what the outline of Chinese modern history is, what Chinese modern history is, why we should study the outline of Chinese modern history instead of the past, and how to better enhance the interaction between students and teachers. In conclusion, the professor expressed his hopes for all: First, teachers should study and draw on the classic works of Marxism; second, they should align the content and the teaching methods; third, they should beef up collective teaching and research.
Professor He Yun’an concluded that the ideological realm, academic skills and teaching skills of the older generation of ideological and political theory teachers, as shown by the 90-year-old professor, are inspiring to us. He hopes that the teachers of the Teaching and Research Section of Chinese Modern History would build up their knowledge and continuously improve their own caliber.
This seminar has benefited the teachers of the Teaching and Research Section of Chinese Modern History. The mentoring of the older generation of ideological and political theory teachers is of great significance for teachers to strengthen their teaching research, improve their teaching standard and reinforce their teaching quality.
