On April 16, our University’s 121st Games and the 125th Anniversary Games of Southwest Jiaotong University officially kicked off in the North Stadium at Xipu Campus.At 8:30, the opening ceremony officially began. A phalanx composed of national defense students came to the center of the venue, kicking off the opening ceremony. "Now walking towards us is the representative team of the School of Marxism, full of energy and walking calmly." Following the host’s words, the School of Marxism’s phalanx team walked towards the rostrum in neat steps. "The School of Marxism creates greater glories", this resounding slogan showed the vitality of our School. Wearing red team uniforms with the Chinese character China and holding a bright yellow five-pointed star, students of the School of Marxism arranged a formation of 100 and a Party emblem pattern, expressing their sincere blessings for the centenary of the CPC.
After the entrance ceremony, all rose to sing the national anthem, facing the national flag. Immediately afterward, President Yang Dan delivered an opening speech. He emphasized that the athletes should adhere to the principle of Friendship is Superior to Competition and strive for excellent grades. After the athlete representatives and referee representatives took the oath, Secretary Wang Shunhong announced the official start of the 121st Southwest Jiaotong University Games, and the audience burst into enthusiastic cheers. As the Games officially kicked off, the athletes of the School of Marxism presented outstanding performances. In the individual competitions, they struggled on the red track and swayed sweat on the green field, embodying the competitive spirit to the fullest. In the team competitions, they worked together and united as one, showing the cooperation spirit of the School of Marxism.
After two days’ fierce competition, the 121st Southwest Jiaotong University Games came to a successful conclusion on the afternoon of April 17. Our School won the seventh place in student group B with 182 points. Student Huang Zhanqiu won the second place in the men’s 400 meters race and the championship in the men’s 1,000 meters race with a remarkable score of 2 minutes and 42 seconds. Student Zhao Hang won the second place in men’s shot put. Student Luo Xichen and Zhang Ting won the first and second places in the women’s 100 meters race respectively. Student Liu Tingna won the women’s shot-put championship. The outstanding results of these students won the honor for our School. In the team competition, our students worked together and got the third place in the women’s 400-meter relay race and rope skipping relay, and the second place in the mixed 500-meter relay race.
On the afternoon of April 17, the 121st Southwest Jiaotong University Games, which lasted for two days, came to a successful conclusion. Our School won the seventh place in student group B with 182 points and also won the Best Student Organization Award. Students of the School of Marxism are expected to make persistent efforts and create greater glories in the next Games.
